On 7 August, 2015 the cloud infrastructure provider Safe Swiss Cloud AG headquartered in Thalwil merged with Basel-based Nexos AG under the Safe Swiss Cloud umbrella. The entire team, along with the cloud infrastructure and managed services provided by the Basel IT firm, which also operates the Swiss encloud service, will be integrated into Safe Swiss Cloud.

According to recent studies the majority of organizations validates recognized security procedures or certifications by independent third parties as crucial decision criterion when selecting a cloud provider.

Serious cloud providers want to be certified by independent parties to guarantee optimal security levels. However, which certification garantees optimal security?

Backup of business-critical data is obligatory for each and every organization. However, there is no backup strategy off the rack. It’s always dependent on the requirements and prerequesits of the respective organization.

From now on Safe Swiss Cloud is hosting his services at the colocation data center of Interxion. This decision was partly based on Interxion’s compliance with FINMA guidelines.

Real enterprise cloud?
Think of it as your virtual data center (a package of IT infrastructure) becoming your cloud.
We think that a real enterprise cloud is about providing computing resources like CPUs, memory, disk space, network bandwidth, backup space etc. along with the tools to manage them. Most cloud providers however only provide a selection of virtual machines (VMs) of different sizes. We think they are selling glorified hosting and virtualization, but not a real cloud.
